Foster Care & Adoption

Information Class

a Child-Centered Focus in Foster Care

It is human nature to approach foster care or adoption with a desire to “save a child” or “bring a child into your family.” Nothing is wrong with those desires, but we must not negate the weight of the reality that the child is living. The choice to foster or adopt will affect every single member of your family and the child’s life considerably. It is easy to approach these situations with rose-colored glasses, but both have many complex realities. Being sure that you and your family are ready is essential to producing positive outcomes for the child and your family.

No matter how desperate the need is for families to engage in fostering and adoption, we must never dismiss the magnitude of the decision or pressure families because of necessity. When we remove emotional hype and answer the hard questions that many potential foster or adoptive families have, we can produce a higher response to recruitment efforts and more families ready to approach the decision with a child-centered focus.

Foster care and adoption are practical ways you can engage in your community to impact and improve the trajectory of children’s lives. As advocates working on the frontlines for years, we have helped rescue children from horrific situations.

There will always be some children that have no caring adults in their lives. As a result, we firmly believe that even amid the brokenness, a system of rescue must exist!  We are here to help you confidently make a peace-filled decision.
